BCorp

THE FACTS

Being a B Corp means being part of a network of more than 4,000 companies that want to redefine the way business is done globally, prioritising sustainability, transparency and people. The goal is to generate a paradigm based on a logic of inclusion in place of exclusion, reducing social and economic differences rather than accentuating them. Business becomes a force for good and a positive driver of social, community, ethical and environmental value.

The certification process requires thorough assessment and analysis of the company’s sustainability profile. The first step is to assess company performance through a B Impact Assessment (BIA), the most globally widespread standard for assessment of environmental and social impacts, which looks at five macro areas in addition to the business model: governance, community, people, environment and customers. If a score of 80 points is achieved (on a scale of 0 to 200), B Lab certification can be obtained. It is also necessary to meet the legal requirement and update the company’s by-laws to consider stakeholders in corporate governance. Fileni became a benefit company in 2021 and in January 2022 it obtained B Corp certification with a score of 90.6.

To maintain this certification, each B Corp is required to renew the certification process every three years, repeating the assessment of requirements.
