The organic production area in the Marche region includes 2,100 agricultural businesses and 71,000 hectares of farmland (representing 60% of organic land in the Marche region).
Official establishment of the unified organic production area in the Marche region follows the agreement signed last April by the Marche Region and regional associations AGCI, Coldiretti, CIA, Confagricoltura, Confcooperative, Copagri, Legacoop, Uecoop, UNCI and the Chamber of Commerce. The underlying idea is that the organic production area shall become a kind of local brand identifying the Marche as a region of organic excellence, through activities to promote products in terms of quality and competitive position in national and international markets. This “brand” can also become a driver for many other economic segments in the region, starting with tourism and food & wine, with a view to sustainable development of the region.
